Motion carried 5/0. <br />Diversity Task Force Update <br />Chair Delmore advised that due to illness and snow days, the meeting had been rescheduled for <br />next week. <br />Review Project Goals for 2007 <br />Chair Delmore led a discussion wi#h Commissioners on potential HRC goals for 2007. <br />Discussion included potential outreach events and possible consideration of attempting three <br />events per year such as an event at the High School; Essay Contest, with Chair Delmore noting <br />the excitement of the studcnts for this year's contest; consideration of another informational <br />event at the Library; and other options. � <br />Chair Delmore referenced a recent forurn by the Chaska Police Department and volunteered to <br />pursue additional information to see if such a forum wonld be feasible in Rosevitle, recognizing <br />the rapidly changing demographics and ethnicity of tk�e community. <br />Chair Delmore sha.red a letter with Commissioners received from Peg Flallerty, Chair of the <br />League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions, offering assistance to local HRC's in meeting <br />their objectives. <br />Additional discussian incl�dcd City staff and department communication with residents, <br />specifically that of the Police Department. Commissioners expressed frustration to City <br />Manager Malinen in obtaining affirmative action statistics from the department. Cammissioners <br />concurred that having representation — in age and culture — in the department and putting a public <br />face to the department in thcir interaction with residents was vital. <br />
