Roseville Human Rights CommissROn <br />Meeting Minutes — October 09, 2007 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />1 Commissioncr Delmore advised. that she had contacted the Police Chief in Chaska, Scott Knighi, <br />2 to get his fecdback and impressions on the training results in Chaska, since it was heid three <br />3 ycars ago and shc would provide that update at the next HRC meeting. <br />4 <br />5 Further discussion included thc HRC and City departments to keep open minds as this <br />6 iniegration and vvorking relationship is pursucd; and suggcstcd schedulin� two datcs for diversity <br />7 training to allow for scheduling flexibility followed by the HRC brainstorming Fizrther plans at <br />8 their November meeting and detertxzining the next steps. <br />9 <br />10 Update on Essay Contest <br />11 Discussion ensued regarding the essay contest schedule and process, available HRC funds, <br />12 interesting volunteers in reading essays for the HRC versus indivzdual HRC members reading <br />13 essays; and developing a rubric as a tool to ma.ke the process more effective and consistent. <br />14 <br />15 <br />�6 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />Commissioner Bosch volunteered to provide a sample rubric at the November mecting for <br />cornrnissioners to review and considcr. <br />Commissioners Crump and Venters expressed their angoing intezest ixz and enthusiasm for <br />reviewing the ess�ys. <br />Mr. Miller provided a handbook developed by a former City Manager several years ago which <br />was being given to all advisory commissions and the City Council which provided an outline oF <br />the role of advisory commissions and their relationship to elected officials and Ciiy cmployees. <br />Mr. Millcr encouragcd commissioners to read the handbook noting that staff was receiving good <br />feedback frorn other advisory commissions; and he hoped it would allow the HRC a greater <br />insight of the inner workings of City Hall. <br />Adjournment <br />Com�znissionez C�rum.p zx�oved and Coznmissioner Venters seconded adjoiu7unent of the meeting <br />at 7:35 p.zni.
