Commcmorative Months: Currently staff writes proclama#ions for scvcral comm.erxzorative <br />months that the City Council adopts. Commissioncrs discussed whethcr that list should be <br />expanded or if there are other ways to aclrnowledge the commemorative months. Curti wil�. <br />send a complete list of commemorative months to thc Commissioners for further discussion. <br />Diversity Committee and Contacting RAS Diversity Coordinator: Commissioner Vnuk <br />served on �he Equity and Integration Committee. The Commission has made sevcral attempts <br />to connect with this group but have not received any feedback. The Commission agreed to <br />table ihis projcct for the immediate future. <br />Invite Roseville Police to Partner in a"It's Time To Talk" program: Table until next <br />meeting. Chair McKenzie planz�ed to draft a lerier to Police Chief Carol Sletner. <br />Review U of M Hurnan Rights Curriculum: Table until next meeting. Chair McKenzie was <br />going to contact one of the staff involved in this project to scc how it is working in the test <br />schools. <br />Bookmarks: Comm.issioner Delmore included an extensive list of books in thc resource <br />book that will be given to Parkview School. Carolyn Curt:i will use that as a resource_ <br />Commissioxxers requested that she also include appropriatc wcb pages. <br />Other �ssues <br />Commissioner Vnuk said she planned to attend the Jewish Comrnunity Action Forum Iater <br />this week. Whcn she called to reserve a space, one of the organizers talked about Roseville <br />sponso�ring a forum to discuss human rights issues. Conun.issioner Vnuk will bring <br />information to the February meeting to discuss in greater deiail. <br />Commissioners then had an in depth discussion about the content of #he essays. On the onc <br />hand tnany students see an incredible amount of intolerance/discrimination in their lives. On <br />the other hand, some studcnts didn't fully understand discrimination. Commissioners <br />discussed ways to lei the community know about what issucs sixth, seventh and eighth <br />graders face. Others expressed frustration on. our inabzliiy to make an inr�pact on the greater <br />cornmunity. Commissioners discussed ways to give youths a greater voice. Commissioners <br />agreed to think about ways to gct thc community to look at kids' points of view. The <br />Commission will discuss af ihe Feb�ruary meeting. <br />Co�nnrnissioner Voellcr and Commissioner Vnuk informed the Commission that thcir terrns <br />expue Maxch 31, 2005 and neither is reapplying for the Commission. Commission Wagner <br />announced t�at i�e was resigning from the Commission, cffectivc immediately. <br />Adjournment <br />Corr►rnissioner Voellcr moved to adjourn and Commissioner Vnuk seconded the motion. <br />Motion passed. <br />
