J.L�' <br />Human Rights Commiss�on Minutes <br />February S, 2005 <br />Preseni: Thelma McKenzie, Phillip Crump, Janet Delmore, Karen Vnuk, Larry Voeller <br />Absent: Steve Smith <br />Staff: Carolyn Curti <br />The Commission came #o order at 7:05 p.m. <br />Commissioners reviewcd the DVD, This is My Home, which r�vas produced by the University <br />of Minnesota Human Rights Resource Center and TPT MN Channel2. T'he program <br />follawed severai Minnesota youths who taiked about their school and life experiences dealing <br />with disc�rimznation. <br />Follflwing the viewing, members discussed what the Commissiox� could do to bring the <br />Human Rights curriculum to Roseville. Chair McKenzie said that she contacted boih the <br />State Department of Human Rights and the University of Muinesota Human Rights Resource <br />Center (UM-HRRC) about conducting a workshop in Roseville. The workshop should <br />inciude Roseville teachers and principals. McKenzie said that Dr. Leon Rocl�iguez, one of the <br />participants in the production, would com,e to the meeting to talk about the curriculum. <br />Commissioner Delmore said she would like to try the cuxriculum in her school. Chair <br />McKet�ie wiZl speak with the UM-HRRC about getting a copy of the cuxriculum for <br />Commissioner Delmorc. <br />Approve Minutes <br />Chaar McKenzie thanked the Comtnisszoners for the productive January meeting. She said it <br />is important to meet cach year vvith. the Superintendent of the Roseville Schoois. She <br />expressed disappointment that no teachers commented on the New Teachers Packet. Carolyn <br />Curti will try ta talk individually with thc new Eeachers at Parkvicw Schaol when thc <br />Comznission attends the Martin Luther King reenachnent. <br />Commissioner Crump rnoved and Commissioner Vnuk seconded approval of the minutcs. <br />Motion prevailed. <br />
