January 3, 2005
Commissioners,
Last week I looked through the 2Q04 minutes and see that we have several tasks that
remain unfinished. Let's discuss these items and priortize what we want to accomplish
in 2005.
• Review Speakers' Bureau and look for ways to add to it and promote it.
 Meet with Superintendent John Thein.
• Look at ways to improve the 2005 New Teachers' packet including creating
bookmarks that are appropriate for Kindergarten to Senior High students.
• Discuss ways ta enhance tne Commission's role in the Rose 'arade. In the past
Cammissioners distributed candy, but we may consider distributing something
more relevant to human rights such as stickers or decals with a human rights
theme.
• Get a comprehensive list of commemorative months and dates that the
Commission could have the City Council acknowledge.
• Send a letter to the RAS Diversity Advisory Committee, thanking them for the
good work that they have done in the district and asking about the RAS Diversity
Council and when the next meeting is scheduled. Commissioner Vnuk's term on
the Diversity Council expired and we are looking to replace her but would like
additional information, including when the next meeting is so that a
Commissioner could attend.
Try to connect with RAS Diversity Coordinator Joha.nna Eager.
• Invite the Roseville Police ta partner in a"It's Time to Talk" program similar to
what is being done in Chaska.
• The U of M Human Rights Resource Center has developed a human rights
curriculum. Log on to http://www.hrusa.org/hr cumculum/index htm to review.
• Recommend age appropriate books to include on bookmarks that will be
distributed to the students for MLK celebration.
C,- '`
v
