• Roseville City Staff <br />• Minnesota Human Rights Commission, if appropriate <br />• Local media, if appropriate <br />Response and Prevention Plan Process <br />1. The Roseville Police Department will notify City Staff and the Human Rights <br />Commission Chair of a bias/hate crime or incideut as soon as possble after a <br />complaint has been investigated and deternuned to be valid. Together, the Police, <br />City staff and Commission Chair will deternune the appropriate level of response <br />including any necessary puhlic statements_ <br />2. In the event a complainant does not want Police involvement, the Commission <br />will offer referrals for the complainant and may make public statements after <br />consultation with City Staff. <br />3. City staff will notify the Mayor or City CounciE as appropriate. The Commission <br />Chair and designee from the Comcnission will promptly contact the victim(s) to <br />offer support and deternrine what further response from the City or community <br />the victim desires and rnay be appropriate. <br />4. The Commission Chair will call upon members of the Roseville community as <br />needed. Cornmunity response options include: <br />• Contact the Project Coordinator of thc League of <br />Minnesota Human Rights Comnussion to seek support and <br />ensure that the Minnesota Department of Human Rights is <br />notified. <br />• Contact neighborhood crime watch coordinator who <br />would deternvne whether the affected area is participating <br />in a watch program and would assist in enlisting the <br />victim's neighbors to attend the interview or offer other <br />necessary support. <br />- The Commission a�d/or network representa�ves may <br />send letters to the media, conduct interviews with the local <br />cable channel and plan other community-wide responses_ <br />5. Follow-up contact with the victim(s) should be made within one week in person <br />or by telephone by the Commission Cha�r or designated cantact person. Check on <br />any recurrences, other problems and offer continued support_ <br />6. Comznission Chair or desi�ee will initiate follow-up canEact in one month and <br />beyond as appropniate. <br />I'roposed 4/13/2004 <br />
