� R1 1 <br />� ��"�'��II/7 <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes, August 10, 2004 <br />Present: Thelma McKcnzie, Chair; Phillip Cn�mp, 7anet De�mare, Steve Smith, Karen Vnuk, <br />Larry Voeller <br />Absent: Howard Wagner, Steve Zorn <br />Staff: Carolyn Curti <br />Chair Thelma McKenzie called the tneeting to order at 7:Q0 p.m. in the Raider Roorn at the <br />Roseville Skating Center. <br />Approve Min�tes <br />Commissioner Karen Vnuk moved and Commissioner Larry Voeller seconded approval of the <br />May minutes. Motioned passed. <br />Janet Delmore reported that she attended a recent City Council mecting and that Mayor Craig <br />Klausing was very responsive to her concerns. <br />Actiou Plan <br />Chair Thelma McKenzie reviewed the action plan for the upcoming year. She reported that <br />the League of 1Vlinnesota Hurnan Rights Commissions is drafting the 2004-2005 essay contest <br />question. Commissioners clarified that the question shot�ld be disiributed to 6tn� �tn �d gtn <br />grade students, and that Commissioners should take copies of the question to the classrooms. <br />The Commission will continue to participate in the Rose Parade_ The Commission will <br />continue to draft proclamations to celebrate commemorative months and explore other ways <br />to raise the awareness about the cornrnemorative manths. Commissioners will review the <br />Speakers' Bureau and look for ways ta add to it. The Commission will once again mcet with <br />Superintendent John Thein, and the Commission will look at ways to improve the 2005 New <br />Teachers' packet. <br />September Meeting <br />Because of a conflict with the Prirnary Eleciion, the Human Rights Com�nission wiil meet one <br />week later than usual, on 5eptember 21, at 7:00 p.m. <br />
