Commissioner Korbel said the DHR is putting together several public education pieces including a <br />forum, public service announcements and a video. Commissioner Korbel recommended that ttie <br />HRC work with Jeff Holman io coordinate sending the same messages at the same time. <br />Commissioners thanked Commissioner Korbel for her time and suggestions. <br />Essay Contest <br />Carolyn Curti explained that they received about 1 SO essays this year from RAMS and Park�iew <br />Schools this year. She distributed 16 or 17 essays to each Commissioner. Each Commissioner is to <br />read their essays and select their top three choices by Decernber 8. At the December meeting <br />Comznissioners will receive copies of all the top essays. They will rank them a.nd then select the top <br />essays at the January meeting. <br />Equity and Integration Advisory Committee <br />Karen Vnuk reported that s�e attended the Roseville Area Schools Equity and Integration meeting. <br />They liked the calendar of culturai activities that Thelma McKenzie had made available and would <br />like to continue to receive that type of information. Carolyn Curti told commissioners about the <br />In.ternational Institute of Minnesota's webpage (http://www.iinin.or index.as�} that has a calendar <br />of ethnic events. <br />Speakers Bureau Letters <br />Phil Crurnp provided a list of about 30 groups to invite to participate in the Speakers Bureau. <br />Carolyn Curti will invite them to participate. She will add their names to the others who have <br />already been invited. <br />Holiday Service Project <br />Steve Smith distributed information about the Holiday Party for Seniors on December 12. The <br />Luncheon will be at Fairview Community Center with help needed from 12:3d to 3:30 p.m. <br />Commissioners can help with planning the event or working that day. Commissioners are to <br />contact Steve if they have questions. <br />Rose of Many Colors <br />Thelma McKenzie reported that the Commission will receive $100 for the Martin Luther King <br />presentation. This is part of the Rose of Many Colors II Arts Series through the Roseville Parks and <br />Recreation Depariment. Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Jill Anfang also sent a letter to <br />indicating interest in the Peace Patch but wanted additional information. Thelma is waiting to hear <br />additional informatian fram them. <br />Martin Luther King - I Have a Dream Presentation <br />Mark Taylor has agreed to perform �k�e MLK I Have a Dream speech on February 21, at 1:00 p.m. <br />at the Ramsey County Library, 2180 Hamline Avenue North. The Library will include information <br />on their calendar of evenis. Comrnissioners discussed creating a bookinark to distribute at the <br />
