GOAL #1: STAFF DEVELOPMENT <br />EMID G�AL - Create a broad base of district staff who value a diverse society and arc <br />committed to providing integrated learning environments that support high expectations <br />for all learners. <br />ROSEVILLE QBJECTIVE: <br />Providc multicultural staff development opportunities to all district employces <br />NEEDS ASSESSMENT DATA: McRel Survey - January 2002, Roseville <br />Tchr. Admin. = "Stron�ly A�ree" and "Agree" <br />92.9% 93.5% I am faced with issucs of equity and diversity in my classroom. <br />45.1 % 46.5% My (prof.) prep program prepared me to work effectively with <br />diverse populations. <br />79.6% 86.4% I have attended professional develogment sessions that <br />prepared me to work effectively with divcrse student populations. <br />38.7% 25.7% Not aware of resources, training, or assistance available in <br />district to support wark with diverse populations. <br />STRATEGY: <br />Increase cmpIoyee awarencss of and attention to diversity issues as they relate to <br />ensuring a welcoming, safe environment that provides higYz expectations for all <br />students and staff. <br />SUGGESTED OUTCOMES: <br />1. Provide employees with opportunities for participation in the SEED <br />program, REACH tiraining, and Responsive Classroom training. <br />2. Provide staff development training for elementary teachers to integrate <br />diversity education into Social Studies curriculum. <br />3. Providc staff with opportunities to participate in workshops/inservice <br />sessions to enhance their work with ELL students in integrated learning <br />environments. <br />4. Provide stafftxaining to develop awareness of EM1D and the District <br />Diversity Plan. <br />5. Provide funding for each school and program to suppori their <br />staff development goals as they relate to increasing awareness of <br />diversity. <br />6. Provide multicultural awareness ti-aining sessions at the fall back to school <br />workshop. <br />7. Provide training for teachers in the area of differentiating instruction for <br />diverse learners. <br />S. Provide training for employces to work effectively with inclusive <br />curriculum during the curriculurn review cycle. <br />9. Support and train district emplayees to serve as integration and diversity <br />leaders in their schools and classrooms. <br />2 <br />
