� ���<���� � � <br />r �� <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes, May 13, 2003 <br />Present: Chair Thelma McKenzie, Mark Chapin, Mariha Hardesty, Jacqucline LeMay, Steve Smith, <br />Karen Vnuk, Larry Voeller, Howard Wagner <br />Absent: �'hillip Crump, Steve Zorn <br />Staff: Carolyn Curti <br />Chair Thelzna McKenzie called thc meeting to order at 7:Q5 p.m. <br />Thelma McKenzie introduced the new mernber and student represenEative Jacqueline LeMay. <br />Jacqueline is a junior at Roseville Area High School. <br />Approve Minutes <br />Howard Wagner moved to accept the minutes of April 8, 2003. Larry Voeller seconded the motion. <br />Minutes were approved. <br />Human Righis Commission Policy and Purpose <br />Mark Chapin briefly reminded Commissioners of the Human Rights Commission policies and <br />purposes. <br />Correspandence <br />Thelma McKenzie reviewed two letters from the Commission. One letter to Police Chief Carol <br />Sletner included copies of the hrochure Rights and Infornaation, Assistance for Victims of Traffic <br />Acciclents, written in English, Spanish and Hmong. Minnesotans for Safe Driving, a non-profit <br />organization committed to making roads safer, printed the brochures for distribution. The letter also <br />commended the Police Department for their commitment to train officers in a second language. <br />The second was a leiter of thanks to former Commissioner Patty Tschida who moved out of the <br />City. <br />Thelma encouraged Commissioners to recruit applzcants to fill the vacancy. Applications are due to <br />the City by June 30. <br />
