<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 12/18/06 <br />Minutes - Page 7 <br /> <br />3.g <br /> <br />Approve City Manager Contract <br />The City Manager Contract was <br />Handout. <br /> <br />City Manager <br />provided as a Bench Contract <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing explained, for public benefit, that the <br />determination had been made to hire William J. Malinen as <br />the new City Manager, and on the advice of legal counsel, <br />negotiations had been delegated to a subcommittee of <br />Councilmembers Ihlan and Pust; and that the agreement and <br />just been finalized today. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust highlighted components of the <br />contract; and apologized for not providing it to the City <br />Council earlier; noting that final negotiations had just been <br />finalized at noon today, at which time the document had <br />been completed for Council review. Councilmember Pust <br />noted that Mr. Malinen was to start employment with the <br />City on January 8, 2007; will receive the same compensation <br />benefits as City staff; with a starting salary at 2006 rates of <br />$110,000; and various allowances for professional <br />development through membership III appropriate <br />organizations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust noted that City Attorney Anderson had <br />assisted in finalizing the document; and thanked Human <br />Resources Director Eldona Bacon for her drafting of the <br />original contract. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing thanked Councilmembers Pust and Ihlan for <br />their time and negotiation skills. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough asked for time to review the contract <br />before taking action. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing agreed to set aside action for this time. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Recognitions, <br />Donations, <br />Communications <br /> <br />4.b Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) Update HRA Update <br /> <br />Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br />
