Action items: <br />a. The tri-fold info sheet was reviewed. Minor changes were made. Tom <br />will get some f�nal forms made and placed at the library display case. <br />b. The grant proposal has been submitted, combining Costa Rica and 5hin- <br />machi requests �ogether. There wi1� be a meeting Wed., June il at 8:4� <br />at the Arona Activity Cen�er to determine which financial requests are <br />accepted. Members are encouraged to be there to support our cause. <br />c. Joyce has obtained the requested info on the TicoTimes newspaper but has <br />not been able to present it to�the Hamline Library. <br />d. Martha got us registered �o be�the Rosefest parade. Martha is working <br />on the banner to be carried. The group recommended no date or "Rosefest" <br />title so that the banner may used again. Carol and Jan will take care <br />of calling Shinmachi people to get students in the parade. Tom wiil con- <br />tact Che Costa Rican group. Joyce will make the sashes for Costa Ricans. <br />Lupita is willing to loan blouse/skirts for the girZs. <br />e. Shinmachi info sheet: Jan is progressfng with the work on it. <br />2. Tresurer's report: not available. <br />3. 5hinmachi: Dan Wa11 reported that Eldon Bruston will be receiving an Horor- <br />ary Trade Representative for Japan on Monday (June 9). The Mayor of Omi, <br />Japan will be coming in November. Twa students and a fatiher will be going to <br />Japan in July. Work is progressing on homestays in August for 5hinmachi <br />s�udent arrivals. <br />4. Costa Rica: There is a Fr�endship City meeting w�th Tony Anderson on June <br />25 at S:Qfl p.�. at the St. Andrews Roam, Ta*rm & Coun*ry Club (Wednesday). <br />This an annual meeting to network and coordinate activities with Cost Rica. <br />There wilY be 12 runners for the Oct. 5 Twin Cities Marathon from C.R. <br />The Boy Scouts have over a ton o£ books le£t f�om their rumage sate to donate <br />to C.R. These will be shipped via HB Fuller. Things are progressing wEll <br />�or the homestay in C.R. with 10 students in 3uly. Approximately 10 <br />people have signed up for the trip to C.R. in Feb. (election time). Jan will <br />find out the date for the National Student Council in 1999. <br />5. Dan Wall reported that progress has started on a display case for Czty Hall. <br />6. Old Business: Tom wi11 print off so�e receipt forms. No discussian on fund <br />raising at this time. <br />7. New Business: There will be an international speed-skating event in Nov. <br />Joyce wi11 get more info on this for the next meeting. <br />8.
