City of Roseville <br />Internationai Sister Citv Committee <br />Minutes <br />�ednesday, February 7, 1996 <br />Present: �harles Scott, Tom and Virginia Turba, Carol Stark, Jane King, James <br />Boardson <br />MinuCes: <br />1. Shinmachi: Carol has heard from 5hinmachi in that a represenrative group may <br />come late June for official sign�ng of our Sister City agreement. She S�o�1a <br />hear on definite plans soon. Nancy Meyers,•:.a teacher in Shinmachi is our can- <br />tact person. There�is a new principle and superintendant of the school as <br />�e1i as a new �ayor.The mayor is not likely to come. <br />The group will work on more details for the arxival if we hear that there will <br />be representatives coming. <br />The World Cup Speed-skating games will be held at the John Rose Oval. There <br />will be a group of 12 skaters expected from �apan, as Wei1 as other countries. <br />5everal of our group are interested_in helping with assisting with free time <br />that the skaters wi�l have. Bob Bierscheid is �he person to contact. <br />2. Costa Rica: There were not enough people for Turba's to Cake a group to Costa <br />Rica this February. Things have been going well for our two visiting students <br />from Costia Rica. They arrived in December and will be going home around �eb. <br />17. There was discussion of sending a gift Sister City g�ft with them but no <br />one was sure what to send. <br />3. Permission �as been given by both the Rosevi�le Recreation C�nter and Puhlic <br />Library to put up a'display case. Charles is trying to find a s�les rep. <br />that may be willing to help financially. If anyone else knows of where we may <br />get a case, please �et Charles or Boardsons know. <br />4.
