City of Roseville Internatioaal Sister City Ca�ittee Minn�e Thursday, January 12, 1995 Present: Joyce and 3ames Boardson, Judy Janiak, Roger Reiling, Charles Scott, " Carol Stark, Virginia and T�m Turba Minutes: 1. The Roseville 5ister City Committee has re�eived a Fed. tax exempt number. 2. Roger Reiling presented a Iist of name of potential additional �ities to start SisCer C�ty relationsh�ps wxth. They are Hudiksvall, Sweden; Savonlinna, Finland; P'at�gorsk, Russia; Ballsbridge, Ireland: and Warsaw, Poland. Roger is willing to lead in the pursuit of developing relations with Savonlinna as our next Sister C�ty Relationship. 3. There wi11 be a meeting this Saturday (Jan. 14) with the Costa Rican Con- sulate on discussing what is involved with a 5ister City relationship. There are openings for 3 people to attend. The arrival of 7 Costa Rican students in February has been cance �9ed. We are sti11 hoping that something can be worked out for June and for penpal activities tio get started soon. No one had an update on what recent commun- ications have been made between Holly Young and Manuel Vargus. 4. 5hinmachi is still anxious to start xelationships on a Sister City level. Charles and Carol will draw up a report to present to the City. The S.S.C.C. remains very favorable with having the Shinmachi Committee join us. 5. The issue oi fund-raising came up. Also, publicity needs to be addressed. Members should come prepared with ideas for our next meeting. 6. Chax�es wi�l contact various Roseville banks to see what we cvuld have for a co�ittee account. The group unanimously feels that monies should be delgated (to the whole committee or subgroups} according tio the way it is earned or comes in. We wi11 be needing a Creasurer whom is able to attend meetings on a regular basis. 7. Next meeting will be at the usual time, Wednesday, Febr�ary 1, 1995, €rom 6:30 to 8:00.
