Rosev��le Sister City Association <br />Minutes <br />March 1, 2005 <br />Present: James and Joyce Boardson, Mary Meyeres, Tom and Virginia Turha <br />Minutes: <br />1. Treasurer's report: Status quo. IRS requesting Z 990. We need $25.000 <br />yearly to file yearly return. <br />2. Sh�nmachi: Mary has learned that there will be no hame-stay with students <br />coming from Japan Chis year. Three towns have been put under "one umbrella", <br />making the financial assistance in Japan more difficult. Kara Anderle, <br />one of our f�rst teachers to go �o Sapan, was Co get married March 12. <br />Mary and Carol Stark will be hosting Japanese visitors for the occasion. <br />The St. Paul Boy ScouC Croop will go to 3apan in 8-06 for the ScouC <br />jamboree. <br />3. Costa Rica: Tom is �Cil� planning on getting a group together for the <br />presidentical gala in 2-�6. He has heard from Ivonne concerning rhe matter. <br />Apparently the C.R. consulate is closed or has moved. Tom tried calling <br />and t.he phone has been disconnected. He wi11 contact Karen Johnson's travel <br />agency to find out what she knows. <br />4. Future: The group sees our contacts in both countries d�sappearing as well <br />as here. Jim brought up the suggestion that our group Xoak a� join�ng <br />another Sister City group that is established and funcCioning. The group <br />was unanimous in feeling that we are not interested in spending the time and <br />energy to develope a new country. The group has tried hard to bring in new <br />members unsuccessfully. This issue wi11 be discussed ati our next meeting. <br />Shoreview was mentioned as a possibility. <br />5.
