Roseville Sister City Association <br />Minutes <br />Apri15, 2005 <br />Present: Yuriko Farmer, Mary Meyer, Jan Schultz, Tom and Virginia Turba <br />The minutes of March 1, 2005 were amended to clarify that the Costa Rican Consulate <br />phone has not been disconnect�d. There is a message on it to ca11 the Chicago consulate. <br />Shinmachi: Yuriko received and translated a lettcr from Japan that clarified that there <br />would not be an exchange of students this year due to the cities of Shinmachi and <br />Takasaki merging in 3anuary of 2006. Tom and the Mayor of Roseville will respond to <br />the letter. <br />Yuriko is planning a family trip to Japan this suznmer, and may seek other contacts in <br />Shinmachi. Tom is seeking Scout contacts in Japan. There wi11 be a group of Scouts <br />from Nagasaki coming to St. Paul this sumfiler. St. Paul and Nagasaki are Sister Ci#ies. <br />Costa Rica: There is no news. <br />New Business: Mary shared information about a`Connect USA Russia' program that is <br />bringing 10 journalists here from Russia and is seeking homestays. She volunteered to <br />host. The program brings 3-4 groups a year to the area and they are mostly professional <br />types of citizens. This is an idea of a way to get involved in other international activities. <br />Bethel College brings Japanese students hcre for 1 month in August and is also seeking <br />homestays for them. <br />Rosefest Parade: The plan at present is to only have the float and banner in the parade. It <br />will be further discussed at the May meeting. <br />The next meeting is "I'ucsday, May 3, 2005 at 6:30PM at City Hall. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Virginia Turba <br />
