Roseville Sister City Association <br />Minutes <br />May 4, 2004 <br />Present: Joyce Boardson, Lilian Dargis, Yurido Farmer, Mary Meyer, Jan Schultz, <br />Tom and Virginia Turba <br />Minutes: <br />1. Treasurer's report: Financial status is not known. No one present has re- <br />ceived a bank statement since Dece�ber. soyce will ca11 Carol Stark and ask <br />if she has ieceived any. If not, Joyce will contact the bank. <br />2. Shinmachi: There are 4 students and Z�haperones scheduled to leave for Japan <br />on July 17. Ten Japanese students and 2 chaperones are expected to arrive <br />here in August. �uriko and LiZian have 7 host famiZies; �okever, they would <br />Iike more so that tihey did not have to double up sCudents with host families. <br />Yuriko has sent student info to Japan and is waiting for info on Che Jap- <br />anese students. Lilian has been working on needed info �o apply for a grant <br />from the Roseville Community Fund. It is obvious that �oth ladies have been <br />working very hard on this years exchange wtih Japan. <br />3. CosCa Rica: Despite several phone calls to request our med. student who went <br />to C.R. in December with our sewing machine, Tom has not been able to get her <br />to write an article for the newspaper. We are still looking foz �ore sewing <br />machines as well as delivering a computer to CarCago. <br />4. Fueure activities: Jan has secured the candy for our parade unit in the Rose- <br />fest parade. Joyce is lining up a giri scout troop. We still do noC know what <br />our number wilZ be. If you have children wanting to be in the parade, contact <br />Joyce. We are still able to take 2 more. <br />No wor� on the China connection. <br />The meeting adjourned early. <br />5.
