Roseville Sister City Association Minutes February 3, 2004 Present: Joyce Boardson, Lilian Dargis, Yuriko Farmer, Jan 5chultz, Tom and Virginia Turba. Guest: T�inda Hashimoto Minutes: 1. Treasurer's Report: Tom has changed the bank acount names so that Joyce is now the treasurer and will be receiving bank statements. Tom's name wi11 continue to be on the account as we11. 2. Shinmachi: Linda Hashimoto, with fihe 3apanese Dance Group, announced that her dance group with Roseville Parkview Center Children wzll be preforming at the Roseville amphitheater on Aug. 8,2204, connecting with Parks and Recreation. This is the same day that the Shinmachi students and host families have their picnic. The group was very interested in combining the activities. Joyce suggested that Linda ask Parks and Rec if the dancing activities could be part of the summer evening "in-the-park" activities to help draw the pubXic in, the picnic before hand wouid be a more private affa�r. Tt was also suggested Chat the "Wrap" and "Rseville Review be con- tacted early for more publ�city. 5t. Paul Nagasaki group may be a part of this, also. Linda pointed out that St. Paul will soon be celebrating a 50 year. relationship wit� Nagasaki and was the first 5ister City group in the USA. 3. So far, four students are asking to go to Shinmachi from .Iuly I7-July 31. Host families are sti.11 needed - ten students and 2 adults will be arriving in Roseville from August 8- AugusC 17. P.lease direct any one interested to Yuriko and Lilian. 4. CosCa Rica: Tom has contacted Kia Lil�y, the ned studenC who took our sew- ing machine to C.R. She is willing Co write a nice article for the Roseville Review, but is not able to do it until after mid-February. Joyce asked the group about obtaining another sewing machine. Tom has done the necessary work on a computer that .Tames Boardson was able to obtain .Eor C.S. EEopefully we will be able to send it to C.R., also. The question was brought up about the Corpus Christi sale time, which is March 27. 5. A reminder: The Shoreview Annual German WinCer Dinner with Mary Eisenhower as guest speaker is March 13 at 5:00, at the 5horeview Communzty Center. Tickets are $25.�0 and can be purchased in advance at the Germaic American Institute 651-222-7027 or at the Shoreview City Hall 651-490-4h00. Young Artist Competition entries are due April 30,2fl04. Sister City A,nnual Conference wi11 be in Fort Worth, Texas in July. b. No word from China. 7. Next Meeting will be on Wednesday, March 3 at City Hall, 6:30 due to Caucases. �.
