Roseville Sister City Association <br />Minutes <br />July 1, 2003 <br />Present: Jim and Joyce Boardson, Chen Chen, Mary Meyers, Tom and Virginia Turba <br />Minutes: <br />1. Our unit in the Rosefest Parade went well. There were 12 children who were <br />kept on the run, along with Che adults, passing out candy. Thanks to Jan <br />for obtaining the car_dy. Thanks also to everyone assisting and participating <br />with the unit. <br />2. Treasure's Report: No official rep.oxC. Last month's minutes stand corrected <br />in that Joyce had presented a check for $75.00 (not $50.00 as stated). <br />3. Shinmache: Much work had been put into the arrival of sCudents from Japan. <br />Jan was plagued with communzcatzon problems. These problems altimarely re- <br />sulted in tt�e arrive of students bei.n�; canceal.ed. There will be letters from <br />Shinmachi with apologies, etc. Jan 3.s also asking our mayor to be sending a <br />letter when she gets more information. <br />4. Costa Rica: No has been no communication between our local colleges that <br />Joyce dealt with and Cartago. The scout groups which normally come in Ju1y <br />i�ave also been cancealed. Tom is not sure why. <br />5. China connection: Sti.l.J. on hold. Ther.e has concern expressed by the Chinese <br />group of how they would be received due to the SARS problem. <br />6. New business: none <br />7. There will be no meeting in August since the regular night £a�L]_s on the state- <br />wide "Neighharhood Night Out". <br />8.
