City o� Roseville <br />Roseville Sister City Association <br />Minutes <br />December 1, 1999 <br />Present: James and Joyce Boardson, Barb Sackman, Tom and Virginia Turba <br />Minutes: <br />1. Action Items: Virginia was noC able to obtain any additional information <br />concerning insurance coverage when we have S.C. visitors. <br />� <br />2. Treasurer's report: Tom has updated the financial records. $19G5.00 (including <br />$100 for design costs) was spent on the T-shirts. It was not know how many were <br />ordered and how many are left. <br />3. Shinmachi: Barb met with John Thein, SuperintendanC of Roseville schools, con- <br />cerning activities this summer with Che Shinmachi School Administrators in <br />celebration of 10 years of exchange activities. John seemed very �nterested in <br />helping. He suggested that activires include (such as a tour and reception) the <br />Mounds View district due the overlap of school district. He aZso requested to <br />be on our S.C. mailing list. Activities wiil need to invvlve the school boards. <br />4. Costa Rica: The student we were expecting to be hosted by rhe Reilings fox 2 <br />months starting in Oct. did not come. Tom and Virginia repor� that the MN- <br />Costa Rica Foundation benefit on Nov. 18 was a lot of fun. Joyce has not <br />succeeded in reaching the Roseville girls basketball coach. <br />5. New Business: Tom has been commun�cating wi[h representatives concerning the <br />People to People International Conference to held in Kowloon, Hong Kong on <br />November 8-11, 200�. <br />6. Future Activites: Tom will be working on a date and place, as well verify who <br />pays for the Costa Rica Friendship Dinner Meeting next summer. It is anticipated <br />that we wi11 use the services of the John Rose Oval dinning facilities. �arb wi11 <br />talk ro Steve Sarkozy abour City Hall involvement with a Japanese dinner around <br />August 5. Gifts also need to be considered. <br />7. Ongoing Business: Tom talked to Steve Sarkozy about permission Co put S.C. info <br />on the City Web Site. �deas of what to include were community activities, T-shirt <br />sales, etc. The issue of consent forms for usfng pictures was discussed. It <br />was suggested that groups arriving sign consents before coming, esp. since we <br />of�er deal with minors. John Stiles has expressed interest in being involved <br />with the project. Barb offered to work on the Shinmachi part of a book show- <br />ing what S.0 has done. Joyce will put an ad in the paper that we are looking <br />for members and host iamilies. <br />8.
