� City of Roseville Roseville Sister City Association Minutes October 6, 1999 Present: James and Joyce Boardson, Barb Sackman, John Stiles, Tom and Virginia Turba. Minntes: 1.. Action items from previous meetings: No one was able to find out information eoncerning insurance coverage for our S.C. visitors wh�le they are hexe. Mailing labels: Carol was not available. Tom said there are labels available at Unisys, but he does not know Che size. 2. Sister City State meeting: was attended by Tom and John. Very good meeting. Held Sept. I$. Both were enChiastic abouC developing a Web site for our S.C. in conjunction with Roseville City Hall. Potential of obtain�ng insurance if a member of the National Org. was also of interest. The cost of joining Nation- al Sister City was not known. Tom is waiting for additional infv irom the meet- ing. 3. Tresurer`s report: Not available. Joyce did submit a request for re�mbursement for expenses from the Basketball activites and was payed. A donation receipt for parade expenses was also granted. 4. Shinmachi: A request has been made for the Governor's office to arrange a dinner meeting with the major of Shinmachi when Governor Ventura travels this month. �ohn Stiles is involved wiht handling this. We hoping his efforts will be fruitful. At next years exchange, celehrations are planned for the lOth year witih Shinmachi. The group is hoping to arrange with 5hinmachi and RQSeville Schoo� superintendants, �ncluding involvemt with the home sCay. Barb will dis- cuss ideas/plans with our Superintendant about the possibility of being �nvolved with the home-stay, hosting Che Shinmachi Superintendant. 5. Costa Rica: There wi1l be a benefit for the Mn.-C.R. Foundatfon on November 18. Danations for a fund-raising auction are being requested. Discussion was held about how many students for the basketball event we can hast. Due to transpor- tation, it w�s felt that 10 sCudents and 1-2 adults was the maximum. Also, we can only handle one Ceam at a time. Joyce will order 3 basketball rule books .wh�eh.�we hope to get to the C.R. Athletic Ass. No response has been received from Gabriela about the C.R. student responses to their stiay. Also, no canCact has heen returned since mid-August. There is interest in having a girl`s team. Joyce will approach the Rosev�lle �oach about•.her interest in being involved. 6. Next year, Roseville will be the hvst for our annual Friendship Dinner Meeting. The group decided to wait un[il after the citq elections to discuss this with City Hall. (There is also hope of having a Japanese D�nner in August.) 7.
