Station Location, Apparaius, and Staffing AnaIysis <br />Roseville, MN <br />issue on Fairview Avenue which can delay responses to calls throughout the city. Both stations <br />need better spaces for storage, crew areas, and training activities. Neither station #1 or #2 is <br />compliant with current OSHA standards or NFPA guidelines. Station #3 is also out of <br />compliance with OSHA and NFPA standards, but due to its current location and better state of <br />repair. lt could be remodeled, a new exterior fa�ade installed, and soxne expansion provided to <br />continue to use this building for the foreseeable future as a satellite station <br />Station Locations and Coverage <br />This section of the study examines the current location of fire stations and emergency <br />response apparatuses and analyzes the response time intervals to incidents throughout the city. <br />Recommendations to improve response times and increase efficiency in coverage are also <br />provided where appropriate. Various factors that should be taken into account when determining <br />the appropriate number of stations, including demand for services, population, size of the <br />jurisdiction, desired response times, and demand of emergency services. This document takes <br />these factors into consideration to assess the current and future situation of ihe RFD. <br />Data <br />Prior to conducting the analysis, project team membexs gathered and reviewed <br />information related to the ci#y's fire stations and incidents, including: <br />� Station iocations and building ages <br />• Apparatus deployment <br />� Current risk areas <br />� National response time standards <br />• Current and proj ected population <br />• Current and projected demand <br />RFD provided response data from their records management system for 2007. Included in <br />the data were type of incident, units responding, and response time segments. � In addition, the <br />city also provided geographic information system (GIS) files to analyze coverage and demand of <br />service delivery of RFD. <br />� Geocoding is a process by which the street address of an emergency incident is translated into <br />latitude/ longitude coordinates by address rnatching to a GIS road centerline file, allowing for <br />tabular address data to be plotted on a map. <br />System Planning Corparaiion 7 May 2U08 <br />TriData Division <br />
