If the frostbitten area <br />blisters do not break them; see a doctor soon to check for infection. <br />5.10 Routine Decontamination <br />"Decontaminaiion" is a procedure for removing, or "doffing," the personai protectivc <br />equipment in a specified ordez to prevent the spread of contaminants. During breaks <br />and at I.unch it is important that sorters rernove the equipment so as nol to inhale or <br />consuxne contan-iinants on the gear. <br />6. Recyclable Materials Handling Procedures <br />6.1 Preso�#ing <br />Sorters categorizing lbe material samples and conducting the sorting will be wearing a <br />level af pratective cloi:hing and respiratory equipment which will not allow tbern to <br />work with an unexamined sample of recyclable material.s. The Site Supervisor or <br />another adequately-trained staff member vvill presort #he sample, looking for <br />hazardous, hausehold hazardous, or infectious waste before it may be shoveled onto <br />the sart table. If �nsorted recyclable material sannples are brought into thc sorting <br />bnilding, sorters will stay near the sort tables and not sort the materials until told that it <br />is ready_ <br />S.2 Sorting Materials <br />Sorting and categorizing materials requires that it be picked up with the hands. Nitrile <br />gloves with optional cotton liners will be provided to protect the skin from dirt and <br />potential hazards, but they will not pratect against sharp materials, which will <br />certainly be in the samples. To avoid being cut oz receiving a puncture wound, items <br />will be picked from the swrface of #he piled recyclable materials. <br />Moving fihe matenials to the containers used fQr categorizing and weigk�ing the <br />recyclable materi�als will be done with caxe. Sorters will station themselves at a single <br />posiiion ncar a table and sort for the faxnily of materials identified on the barrels <br />nearest their iocation. Sorters will be tz'ained to avoid grabbing handfuls of like <br />materials and will not n�n around the table to the Uarrels behind o#her workezs. One <br />couid easiiy trip, be knocked down, hit with an item, or at the very least startle a <br />fellow warker by being behind them when unexpected. Materials in othez categories <br />will be passed to fell.ow workers nearer tk�.ose barrels. Throwing or toss�ing the <br />recyclable materials will not be allowed. <br />1'rior to initiating tb.e sorting event, the Site Supervisor will provide each sorter with a <br />list of 1.he various �aaterial categories and their definitions.
