ROSEVILLE 50TH ANIVIVERSARY COMMITTEE <br />ROSEVILLE ACTYVITY CENTER <br />2800 ARONA <br />WEDNESDAY, . �Y 6,1998 MINLTTES <br />ATTENDING <br />Dalores Niewald, Margaret Kehr, Don Anderson, Bud Merrill, Mindy Crrciling, Sob Bierscheid, Kathy Welsch, Alicc <br />Marks, Dcbbie Hall, Ray Barton, Barb Mastcl, Pal Johnson, Joao Gerten, Steve North, Mary Harris, Dcnny Harris, <br />Diane Lang, Ken Hanseo, Lorrainc Hansen, Carmen Bell, Tom Johnson, Rose Diestler, Carol McFarland (St. Paul <br />Pioneer Press), Joan Kapaun <br />The meeting was called to order at 7: I05 p.m. by Pat Johnson. <br />APPRQVAL OF MINUTES <br />Barb Mastel moved, Ray Sarton seconded, that the April 1, I998 commiltce minutcs be approved. All ayes. <br />COMMITT�E REPORTS <br />ROSEVILLE SOTH BIRTHDAY BASH - Larraine Hansen reported lhat arrangcments are proceeding well. <br />Shc has ordered 17 cases of vanilla sundae cups at $.27 cach and will need a check the day of the event. Rich <br />Armstrong will pick up thc ice cream. A check is also needed for $125.0(} made out to the RoseviIle Bakcry for the <br />cake. Orange drink will be purchased from McDonald's. This is a button event, with t1�e button nceded to purchase <br />cake and ice cream, the band concert is open to anyone. The opening ceremony will hegin at 7:00 with Pat Johnson <br />introducing the rnayor. Thc band will begin playing at 7=15 and play until 8:00. There will be a large birthday card <br />on hand for people to sign. Ray Barton will publicize this eveat. Tom Alleva and the Roseville police will <br />coardinate all parking for this and all other SOth anniversary events. <br />ROSE PARADE - Diane Lang reported that there are 94 units and 9 bands registered for the parade Eugene <br />Richter of Richter Feeds will be the Grand Marshall for the parade. The Girl Scouts will carry banners for the units. <br />There was discussion regarding a bus to Transport the Girl Scouts back to the start of the parade. Diane will give <br />finalized information to Ray Barton by Junc 1 for publicity. CTV wiU cover the parade and Joan Gerten will give <br />those dates to Ray also. If you are interested in volunteering the night of the parade, please call Diane. <br />CELEBRATE WITH MUSIC/50 YEAR RESIDENT RECOGNITION - Alice Marks reported she is <br />compiling a list of the 5d year residents and prindng up a booklet with names of those residents. The concert will <br />begin at 5:00 on July 4. <br />TASTE OF ROSEVILLE/SALUTE TO VOLUNTEERS/SALUTE TO BUSINESS AND <br />INDUSTRY - Bud Memll reported that the committee is now meeting every two weeks to work out the details and <br />that thiogs are moving along fine. Dolores Niewald reported that to date she has sent out 47 inquiries for crafters and <br />has a confirmed number of 22. During the day, entrance to thc cvcnt is hy button. There will be a time framc <br />(approxirnately 4:30 - 7:Q(}) whcn anyonc that has volunteered can enter the event without a button, as all volunteers <br />will be honored during the evening event. All volunteers will be notified by letter about the evcnts for that weekend. <br />The letter will encaurage them to attend and alsa to buy a button to help defray costs. The committee is planning to <br />start the program with the Big Band playing at 6:00 and the prograrn starting at 7:00. The carnival is set to open <br />Friday at 9:00 a_m. and run to 10:00 p.m. and will run through Sunday. Qther events begin at 10:00 a.m. on <br />Saturday. People will be encourage to car pool and shuttle buses will run from the Roseville Area High School that <br />day. A num6er of years ago Roseville Area High School painted 25 doors as an art project. Thc doors portray the <br />history of Roseville and they will be used as decoration throughout thc 50th anniversary events. Bud also reparted <br />that the laser show will be a great finish to the evening. <br />DANCING ON ROSES - Denny and Mary Harris reported that a Eetter has been sent to President Clinton on <br />behalf of the City of Roseville inviting him to attend the event. A lcttcr has bcen rcc;cived from the White House <br />which says that they are unablc to conCum at this time_ A line dance �roup wil] be performing during this event - <br />they will instruct and demonstrate for appro�mately 1-1 1/2 hours. There was discussion about whether or not to <br />pay for this group. A motion was made, seconded and carried to pay the line dancers $100.00_ In the next few days, <br />Tom Kough will talk with Bob Bierscheid about food vendors for that event. T'hc question was also raised by Tom <br />Kough about moving the start of the event to 12:{� to allow tim�e for all the participants. This will be adciressed at <br />SOth Anniversary Committee 1 <br />
