the next group meeting whicfi wil] allow Ume for Tom and the committee to come with a recommendation for the <br />start time. <br />GOLDEN ROSE BANQIIET - Carmen Bell reported that committee is working on findiag a speaker and on <br />ccnterpieces for that event. <br />OPERATING COMMYTTEE REPORTS <br />FYNANCE COMMITTEE - Tom 7ohason reportcd on the b�dget for the anniversary events and a copy of that <br />report is on �le in the secrctary book. The amount budgeted is $32,40�.00 and as of this date, al] but $6400.00 has <br />been committed for the events. Please submit your bills for expenses on a requisition form that is available from <br />him or at city hall. <br />PUBLICITY COMMITTEE - Ray Barton reported that any news releases will go the St. Paul Pioneer Press, <br />the Minneapolis Star and Tribune and the 2 local newspapers. There was a nice article in the Star and Tribune the <br />other day. He will be sending out another news release the first of next week which will cspec;ially highlight the <br />Birthday Bash. Joan Gerten addressed the issue of how large an area do we want to draw from for our events. It was <br />decided to keep the Birthday Bash publicity local and publicize the Taste of Roseville and the Dancing on Roses <br />events to a wider audience. At the next meeting we will discuss how far an azea to publicize these events. Bud <br />Merrill suggested that since Channel S is celebrating its SOth anniversary wc shoald sec if we can dn some cnmbined <br />Qublicity with them. <br />SKATING CENTER EVENTS COORDINATION - Don Anderson reported that communication is going <br />well and things arc running smoottily. <br />BUTTON COMMITTEE - Denny Harris and Ken Hansen reported that in the last 2-3 weeks they havc sold over <br />35a buttons to area busincsses. To date, approximately 1,000 bat[ons have been sold. <br />SHIRT COMMITTEE - They are continuing to sell shirts at City Hall and the Roseville Recrearion Department. <br />They are hoping to have more exposure for shirt sales in the next fcw wceks. Golf shirts and sweatshirts arc <br />available for $20.00 with XXL selling for $22.(}0. <br />PYONEER PORTRAIT COMMITTEE -]oan Gerten reported that 24 interviews were done at the CTV Studio <br />and that the stories have been very delightful. Dccisions will need to be made in the near future regarding putting <br />together a tape, how to edit it, how to sell it, etc. Due to the response, another time will be sct for taping <br />interviews. A deadline wiil necd to be set for when to have the tape ready for sale. <br />OTHER BUS�NESS - <br />• Deb Hall reported that the Women of Today will be sponsoring the Rnse Sud parade and that the parade <br />will have an historical theme with children dressing in histarical costumes. <br />• Pat Johnson spoke about two books that are being put togcther concerning 50 years of Roscvillc_ Thc <br />Roseviile Historical Society and the Friends of Lexington �ark are both selling boolcs as fund raisers. The <br />book sales are not associated with the SOth Anniversary Committee. <br />• Nine people - 2 youth and 7 adul�s will bc honorcd on Thursday, May 231 at the Gavel Banquet. <br />• Bob Bierscheid reported that there are projects taking place in the schools to increase awareness about <br />Roseville's 5{)th Anniversary. A student at Central Park School has done a report and wil] submit it to <br />Ray for publicity. <br />• If any committee receives a donation for an event, please keep track and submit to the city council for their <br />acknowledgment. <br />• Joan Gerten will rneet with people from the city to decide what and haw to document the information on <br />the SOth anniversary for records. <br />- Pat Johnson reminded everyone that the meeting schcduled for May 20 on the initial calendar has been <br />canceled.
