ROSEVILLE 50TH ANNIVERSARY COMM�TTEE <br />ROSEVILLE ACTIVITY CENTER <br />2800 ARONA <br />WEDNESDAY, September 2, 1998 MINUTES <br />ATTENDIN� <br />Bob Mattson, Dolores Niewald, Mary Harris, Denny Harris, Don Zibell, Ken Hansen, Bud <br />Merrill, Batb IVlastell, Margaret Kehr, Betty Wolfangle, Mindy Greiling, Mark Hughes, Don <br />Anderson, Joan Gerten, Carol Kough, Alice Marks, Carmen Bell, Pat Johnson, Bob Bierscheid, <br />Tom Johnson, Joan Kapaun <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:05 by chairperson Pat Johnson. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of August 5, 1998 rneeting were approved. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />TASTE OF ROSEVILLE/SALUTE TO VOLUNTEERS/SALUTE TO BUSINESS <br />AND INDUSTRY - Please see attached sheets for the final report of the Taste Committee. <br />• It was felt that despite the weather, the weekend was a success. <br />• More of the hats will be distributed on Septennber l 9 at the Dancing on Roses. <br />• 7t was suggested that the "Volunteer Way" portion of the Taste Event be done again, <br />possibly at the 4th of 7uly celebration or at a Town Hall Meeting or Open House. <br />• The ca.rnival did not draw the volume that they needed to do, however, they weren't <br />scheduled to be anywhere that weekend, so they did have exposure in our community. <br />Bob Bierscheid wil� be talking to them about doing a carnival again. <br />• Pat Johnson thanked all of the committee for their hard work. <br />• Lasertainment will be rescheduled for the night of September 19, Dancing on Roses <br />event. <br />• Other comrnents regarding the weekend: <br />- food prices were very reasonable <br />- charge the restaurants a flat fee to participate <br />- it was suggested that we try at least one more time <br />- a chance to give back to the community <br />- it will grow, given time, try not to intezfere with other activities planned by <br />other cornmunities <br />- if done around the 4th of July, there would be a gireat deal of publicity <br />- Salute to Business needs to be expanded. <br />- only thing that went awry was the weather <br />- Pat Johnson asked the corrunittee for a recommendation to take to the city council. It was <br />felt that it would be best to wait until after the dance on September l 9 before making a <br />recommendation for future plans. <br />DANCING ON ROSES - Carol Kough reported that things aa-e rr►oving along well. After the <br />report from the Taste of Roseville committee, there was concern about the number of signs placed <br />for the dance. Thc comtxiittee would be meeting in the next few days and will develop more <br />publicity. Signs can be put up the day of the event along County Road C and Lexington. Denny <br />Harris has buttons set to sell that day. The laser show will probably take place during break time <br />for the Rocking Hollywoods Band. The bar�ds are looking great and it will be a fun event. Old <br />Dutch Potato Chips has offered chips in place of a cash donation to the event. There will also be a <br />number of food vendors that day. <br />GOLDEN ROSE BANQiTET - Carmen Bell reported on the banquet. Mr. Ronald Clark, <br />editor of the St. Paul Pioneer Press wili be the featured speaker. Hermes Floral will be providing <br />50th Anniversary I <br />
