Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, February 12, 2007

make the site more user friendly and allow ease of use no matter what the
level of expertise of those utilizing the website, to further enhance commu-
nication. Mr. Miller noted that it was staff s intent to do it right the first
time and provide a customized and proactive format such as allowing for e-
mail comment from users; allowing users to provide information to the City
(i.e., pot hole repair areas); community calendar listing specific upcoming
events without clicking elsewhere; customize messages, recognizing that us-
ers have different purposes, information needs, and abilities, (e.g., residents,
real estate developers, contractors); and using easier and faster navigation
tools, rather than being set up according to the City's internal organizational
structure.

Mr. Miller noted inclusion of a quick opinion poll that may prove of use; a
"notify me" feature for people subscribing to receive updates on specific is-
sues, or for any new information posted; and to encourage more interaction
from users of the site.

Discussion included the need for the website update; rationale on scope of
the RFP; need to incorporate the Roseville Issues Forum into the design not
as two separate items; and staff investigating references of the firm to de-
termine their satisfaction with the end product.

Roe moved, Kough seconded, authorizing City Staff to accept the proposal
to redesign the City's website from CivicP1us and to appropriate an addi-
tional $5,000 from the City's Communication Fund.

Roll Call
Ayes: Kough; Ih1an; Roe; Pust and Klausing.
Nays: None.

b.
