City of <br />1� <br />'� <br />`/ <br />1,1 Try T <br />�„� <br />Minnesota, USA <br />Community Development Functions - 2002 <br />Overall Objectives <br />• Ensure that improvements to the human, natural, and built environment are achieved through a coordinated <br />and customer friendly permit process. <br />• Provide for a safe, quality living environment and a diverse economic and social base. <br />• Strive to assure that "further development ... will be in harmony with the commitment Roseville has made <br />to its environment and quality of life." <br />• Strengthen intra - department teamwork and existing and new staff professionalism to ensure continued and <br />enhance quality customer service <br />2002 Work Plan <br />The work plan sets out the specific programs that are instrumental in the Community Development <br />function to achieve the overall <br />• Educate staff in being an advocate for the community at large including expanding outreach programs <br />to contractors, businesses and residents <br />• Encourage and lead community collaboration to assure the best possible development for Roseville. <br />• Continue to strengthen business relationships that will result in the retention and attraction of quality <br />industry to foster economic balance in the community <br />• Provide the City Council and Planning Commission, as the land use decision makers of the community, <br />with solid policies and standards <br />• Increase the level and flexibility of the technical and financial housing assistance through collaboration <br />with other agencies. <br />Specific Programs- 2002 <br />The following specific outcomes are expected to be implemented in 2002 <br />• Achieve a satisfactory survey from contractors, residents and planning applicants regarding customer <br />service. <br />• Through financial and technical assistance increase the level of quality residential improvements by 20 <br />percent. <br />• Successfully assist decision makers in the Vista 2010 long -range planning needs of the community. <br />• Reduce the level of code complaints and increase the number of resolved land use and nuisances cases. <br />• Increase the usefulness of new and existing technology with improved building permit systems and online <br />materials. <br />• Resolve land use inconsistencies through improved zoning and building code revisions. <br />III -4 <br />
