City of Roseville — 2012 Budget <br />Division /Program: Building Permits and Codes <br />Organizational Responsibility: Community Development Director <br />Division / Program Description <br />The Code Enforcement Program ensures public safety and health standards related to building <br />construction and land use, are maintained for the general welfare of the community. This provides a <br />safer community for all citizens through proper construction methods and provides for enhanced <br />neighborhood livability and property values. The City expects to maintain a high level of public - <br />encouraged redevelopment and construction in 2005 through the various housing programs, business <br />redevelopment, and residential remodeling /improvements. The Program's activities are accounted for in <br />the Community Development Fund. <br />2012 Goals and Objectives <br />• Continue opportunities and provide resources for department personnel's Professional Development. <br />• Improve existing procedures and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness. <br />• Continually monitor existing Regulations to ensure that the community needs are being met. <br />• Implement technology for field inspectors. <br />Financial Summary <br />2012 Budget Impact Items <br />• Personnel increases include a 1% cost -of- living increase for City Staff, along with higher <br />healthcare - related costs. <br />• Other Services & Charges reduced due to lower credit card processing fees and contractual costs <br />related to electrical inspections. <br />2010/2011 Achievements <br />• In 2011, issued over 1,700 building permits bringing in $1.2 million in revenue. <br />• In 2011, valuation of construction in 2009 was $75 million: <br />$27.3 million residential new, $10.0 million residential renovation. <br />$9.5 million commercial new, $28.0 million commercial renovation. <br />• In 2011, staff continued the Neighborhood Enhancement Program which involved <br />communicating with and canvassing 4,388 properties for City Code violations (from the public <br />right -of -way).
