Maintenance Workers Local Union #49 - Settlement Update
Human Resources Director Eldona Bacon reviewed the criteria and proposed
agreement for the 28 employees in the Maintenance Workers Local 49
group, as detailed in the Request for Council Action dated February 26,
2007, attached hereto and made a part thereof. Ms. Bacon advised that ne-
gotiations had been ongoing since September of 2006, with the current con-
tract having expired the end of December 2006. Ms. Bacon opined that the
representatives had met and found some common ground for a three-year
settlement that would give employees, as well as the City, the benefit of a
longer-term contract. Ms. Bacon advised that the union vote was pending
and scheduled for March I, 2007, with final City Council vote scheduled for
March 12,2007.

Discussion included wage allocations and peer averages; and standby and on
call rates and how they're determined and compensated.
