Regular City Council Meeting Minutes
Monday, April 23, 2007
Page 16

Mr. Lee opined that it was his understanding that excess herbicides
were being dumped in the lake, but that the Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) had enforced reduction in the volume this year.

Joe Held, 3094 W Owasso
Mr. Held spoke in support of the jump and course, noting that he'd
just discovered it last year, and intended to make much more use of it
this year.

Councilmembers Pust and Roe questioned how the jumpers deter-
mined "off times" on the lake and precautions for alerting other users
of the lake (i.e., fishermen) of their intent to jump.

Mr. Held advised that off-times were dependent upon weather, time of
day and day of the week (i.e., weekday versus weekend with heavier
boat traffic); and advised that when others were using the lake, they
were given the right-of-way, since the water became rough and was
not conducive to their use at that time.

Larry Moy, 2920 W Owasso Boulevard
Mr. Moy spoke in opposition to the ski jump and water course, due to
the amount of traffic on the lake. Mr. Moy noted that the amount of
traffic on that part of the lake impeded his personal access to the lake
by boat. Mr. Moy opined that water skiing started as early as 7:05
a.m. on a Saturday, and those with smaller boats had a hard time re-
taining normality due to the amount of very fast and repetitive ski boat
traffic. Mr. Moy advised that he'd lived on the lake for six years, and
was concerned with the increasing amount of traffic on the lake, mak-
ing it difficult for trolling for fish in this natural habitat area; and
asked that the City Council deny the ski jump.

Mayor Klausing recognized the increasing intensity of use on the lake,
from his historical perspective and observations; and questioned Mr.
Moy if he thought it was related to the ski jump and/or slalom course,
or just water skiers in general.
