<br />Regular City Council Meeting Minutes <br />Monday, April 23, 2007 <br />Page 26 <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing suggested that the City Council consider remaining agenda <br />items at this time to allow uninterrupted discussion of financial and budget <br />policies. Councilmembers concurred. <br /> <br />d. Audit Committee - Discussion of an Audit Committee <br />Mayor Klausing suggested tabling this item indefinitely until Coun- <br />cilmember Kough was able to participate in the discussion. Mayor <br />Klausing noted that the issue seemed to be whether a Council sub- <br />committee or the entire Council serve as the Audit Committee. <br /> <br />City Manager Malinen advised that staff had incorporated previous <br />auditor findings and had conected those situations; and was proceed- <br />ing in conformity with those previous findings, including conducting a <br />training for all employees and incorporating any employee recognition <br />at that time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan noted that the cunent audit was nearing com- <br />pletion, and personally opined her preference that that audit would <br />recognize the steps already taken and progress made by the City to <br />address previous findings. Councilmember Ihlan further opined that it <br />was her personal preference that a formal and ongoing Audit and Fi- <br />nance Committee be established for the purpose of reviewing and <br />making recommendations related to the type of policy discussions be- <br />ing held by the Council tonight. <br /> <br />e. Legislative Advocacy - Discussion of Development of 2008 Legis- <br />lative Advocacy Schedule <br />Councilmember Pust opined that the suggested program, as prepared <br />by staff, appeared organized and efficient, and suggested that the leg- <br />islative policy not be considered until June, as recommended in the <br />staff report dated April 23, 2007 and attached proposed 2008 Legisla- <br />tive Advocacy Program timeline. <br /> <br />It was Council consensus that staff provide the Council with a set pro- <br />gram, as outlined, on a regular basis as a matter of City Council action <br />and activity throughout the year. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust stipulated that consensus action of the Council <br />as referenced above, not be interpreted by Department Heads as an <br />
