<br />Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, June 11,2007 <br />Page 38 <br /> <br />Environment and Transportation (PWET) Commission look in more <br />depth at comparison ordinances from those cities outlined. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust referenced the previous HRA discussion and <br />possible implementation of advisory group recommendations on <br />rental housing recommendation #8 entitled, "review issues relating to <br />on street and off-street parking as it relates to existing City Codes;" <br />and noted that on January 22, the Council directed Public Works staff <br />to review the history of parking discussions held by the Traffic Safety <br />Committee and previous action taken, incorporating student parking <br />as a component of any study. Councilmember Pust questioned if the <br />Council had received that memo. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan clarified that that was more of a history of the <br />Traffic Safety Committee and their past actions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust sought clarification on her recollections that the <br />Council asked that review of the matter go to the PWET at that time. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing recalled that the matter had been sent to the PWET; <br />but that it was his understanding that a subcommittee had been created <br />of Councilmembers Pust and Ihlan, who would return to the full <br />Council with a report and specific recommendations. Mayor Klausing <br />questioned how limiting overnight street parking would resolve the <br />broader on and off-street parking issues. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan proposed restrictions similar to those of Ma- <br />plewood or Shoreview, with no street parking between 2:00 a.ill. and <br />5:00 or 6:00 a.ill. with temporary permits available. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust opined that it was premature to have this as an <br />agenda item, when the subcommittee hadn't completed their analysis <br />or drafted recommendations. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing concurred with Councilmember Pust's observation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough noted the number of complaints he fielded <br />that were related to parking issues; specifically vehicles with "For <br />Sale" signs that were parked for months on end; and were even re- <br />
