Chair of Maplewood HRV <br />Hi Gary, <br />Good timing. the email below was sent out just yesterday to the Maplewood HRC members. <br />Yes, we are expecting and hoping that Roseville will co-sponsor "The Future of Marriage in <br />Minnesota Forum," and would be glad to have you also participate in the Voter ldentification <br />forum as well. We do not have the agenda or speakers for either forum finalized. Input <br />welcomed. <br />The dates are now final: Voter ID Forum: Tuesday October 9 at Maplewood City Hall. Marriage <br />Forum: Tuesday, October 23, and the Maplewood Community Center. Jon <br />Jon Brandt, Chair <br />Maplewood HRC <br />651-208-4632 <br />8/6/12 <br />From: Jon Brandt, Chair, Maplewood HRC <br />To: HRC commissioners: <br />"Marriaqe Forums" <br />As you know we have been discussing the format for two forums for "The Future of Marriage in <br />Minnesota," and I still think there is a viable model for separating the topic into parts, but that <br />might serve the agenda of the HRC to champion the issues, better than it serves the public to get <br />the information. <br />I think stronger arguments for one forum are emerging, and that we should just do one - on <br />Tuesday evening, October 23. If we do two, we would have to explain to the public what the <br />difference is between the two events. We might understand the difference, and have the interest <br />level for a lot of discussion about this topic, but that probably does not reflect the public interest. <br />Unless we did a lot of promoting, two forums could result in two partially filled events. One event, <br />well promoted, has a greater likelihood of capturing the public interest, and we might just pack the <br />place. Wouldn't standing room only be a great success? <br />In my discussions with other HRC members and possible speakers the suggested line up <br />appears to be: a college professor speaking on the history, culture, and benefits of marriage; an <br />
