Meeting Notes <br />Joint School Board/City Council Meeting <br />Tuesday, June 26, 2012 <br />The joint meeting was dedicated to discussing collaboration and partnerships between the City <br />or Roseville and the Roseville Area Schools. Minutes are organized by the key topics of <br />discussion. <br />Community Engagement <br />1. Options identified to move forward: <br /> a. Adopt locations/areas for meetings to develop relationships <br /> b. Joint ELL/Human Rights events <br /> c. Roseville Reads <br /> d. Emergency personnel meeting with new members of the community at <br /> school events <br /> e. Communication, staff members sharing information and calendars <br />2. A City Council-School Board sub-group will be formed to develop ideas for moving forward <br />The following is a complete list of ideas brainstormed: <br /> Adopt area/location – conduct meetings there to help establish relationships; Message <br />and planning should be tied together <br /> ELL Picnics/Human Rights Commission co-sponsor (Transportation may be an issue) <br /> Movie Nights – Summer Reading Program (Library, Oval) <br /> Roseville Reads: Shared reading – joint park event including transportation <br /> Identify Barriers to participation <br /> Human Rights Civic Engagement Task Force <br /> NextDoor.com <br />• Neighborhood communications <br />• How to share information on this option through district lists <br />• Hosting meetings in schools <br /> Emergency personnel meet new members of the community <br />• Formal presentation <br />• Back to School nights an option <br />• Kindergarten Orientation nights <br /> Jointly establish a calendar of events <br /> Sharing information at events in the parks <br /> District presence in the parade <br /> Communications staff members sharing information <br /> Emergency training for staff <br /> <br />
