Roseville Human Rights Commission March 21, 2012 - Minutes Page 5 of 5 Commissioner McKenzie discussed the information packet that was emailed to commissioners. It included information about the Open Meetings Laws and information about the marriage amendment. Retreat Commissioners discussed possible dates, but could not find a mutually agreeable date. Commissioners discussed a visioning meeting instead of a regular meeting. Chair Grefenberg asked that Commissioner Doneen and Commissioner Thao to try to come up with a date. Staff and Financial Report Chair Grefenberg noted that the Commission allocated $175 for the congratulatory dinner for essay contest winners. The final cost was $220.19. He agreed to pay the $25 gratuity, and asked the other commissioners who attended to remit a check for $5.00 to cover the remaining costs. Future Agenda Items Chair Grefenberg said that with the Commission's current pace he sees the Commission's definition of human rights expanding, and he is therefore somewhat concerned that the HRC not become a place to debate every and all public issues. Commissioner Groff said that recent issues — elderly, Voter ID, marriage amendment - -all address protected classes and the HRC cannot back away from those issues Announcements April 23 meeting on elder abuse in Shoreview April 3 meeting of the Project 515 Advisory Committee March 25 Tristate Human Rights Conference in Winona Adjournment Commissioner McKenzie moved and Commissioner Thao seconded motion to adjourn.
