Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />March 21, 2012 - Minutes <br />Page 5 of 5 <br />Commissioner McKenzie discussed the information packet that was emailed to commissioners. It <br />included information about the Open Meetings Laws and information about the marriage <br />amendment. <br />Retreat <br />Commissioners discussed possible dates, but could not find a mutually agreeable date. <br />Commissioners discussed a visioning meeting instead of a regular meeting. Chair Grefenberg asked <br />that Commissioner Doneen and Commissioner Thao to try to come up with a date. <br />Staff and Financial Report <br />Chair Grefenberg noted that the Commission allocated $175 for the congratulatory dinner for essay <br />contest winners. The final cost was $220.19. He agreed to pay the $25 gratuity, and asked the other <br />commissioners who attended to remit a check for $5.00 to cover the remaining costs. <br />Future Agenda Items <br />Chair Grefenberg said that with the Commission's current pace he sees the Commission's definition <br />of human rights expanding, and he is therefore somewhat concerned that the HRC not become a <br />place to debate every and all public issues. Commissioner Groff said that recent issues — elderly, <br />Voter ID, marriage amendment - -all address protected classes and the HRC cannot back away from <br />those issues <br />Announcements <br />April 23 meeting on elder abuse in Shoreview <br />April 3 meeting of the Project 515 Advisory Committee <br />March 25 Tristate Human Rights Conference in Winona <br />Adjournment <br />Commissioner McKenzie moved and Commissioner Thao seconded motion to adjourn. Meeting <br />adjourned at approximately 8:30 p.m. <br />
