Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />March 21, 2012 - Minutes <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Commissioner Doneen, the Committee's new chair, noted that there are four members on the <br />committee so meetings need to be publically noticed. She said the committee is taking on a lot of <br />tasks. Some of the issues include advocacy for elderly and Project 515. <br />They are holding a meeting on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:00 in the Fireside Room to discuss what the <br />HRC may consider holding panel discussions about the marriage constitutional amendment. <br />Commissioners discussed what kind of format a meeting could take, who should speak, whether to <br />have speakers from diverse religious organizations. <br />Commissioner Doneen said the book club is planning to meet the first Monday of each month from <br />7:00 to 9:00 at Cafe Zia. The first discussion would be an online reading. Commissioner Thao will <br />develop a poster. <br />Commissioner Doneen brought information about the League of Women Voters (LWV) <br />presentation planned for Thursday, April 12 at the Skating Center. <br />Chair Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Groff seconded the motion that the HRC cooperate and <br />support with the LWV to disseminate information on the Voter ID forum. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Commissioners asked staff to look into whether the city could post information about the book club <br />on the website. <br />The Committee asked for staff assistance in creating a monthly calendar for commissioners. <br />Carolyn Curti said the city has an ongoing calendar on the city's website. City Manager Malinen <br />recommended that commissioners use Outlook to schedule meetings. <br />The next meeting is Tuesday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. <br />Outreach Committee <br />Commissioner Groff said he attended the Shoreview dialogue on elder abuse. He said about 30 <br />people attended. He said the next dialogue on April 23 at the Shoreview Community Center from <br />3:00 to 5:00 p.m. They will discuss how to report elder abuse crimes. <br />Youth Engagement Task Force <br />Commissioner Dao asked about two -way communications on Facebook. The next Youth Task <br />Force is meeting in March 25. Commissioner Dao said the Facebook page is running and has about <br />20 likes. <br />Commissioners asked that the page be changed to reflect that it is the youth commission website. <br />League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions (LMHRC) <br />
