September 19, 2012 <br />Item 7.b <br />Civic Engagement Task Force <br />8.2 Policy Intent or Practice: The city should support residents in developing more <br />formalized neighborhoods and/or neighborhood organizations. <br />Rationale: By recognizing neighborhoods and neighborhood organizations, the city <br />reinforces the value of neighbors working together to achieve common goals. Providing <br />infrastructure and technical assistance to these groups also enables their success and <br />provides another effective way for the city to disseminate and gather information. <br />We recommend the City: <br />a) Provide residents wishing to formalize their neighborhood or neighborhood organization <br />with the following: <br />i. Definition of a neighborhood, network, and association. <br />ii. Example purpose of forming a neighborhood, network, or association. <br />iii. Clear process to formalize a nei <br />iv. (See Recommendation 6.2.b, above.) <br />8.3 Policy Intent or Practice: The city should facilitate meetings at the neighborhood level. <br />We rec <br />li3': <br />a) Compile, maintain, and make readily available a list of meeting places for Roseville <br />residents to use when organizing neighborhood meetings. <br />9) Improve the Notification Process <br />9.1 Policy Intent or Practice: The city should expand the notification area and methods <br />for developments that have greater impact and/or involve issues of probable concern. <br />Rationale: With numerous developments that have a greater impact on the community than <br />the 500 -foot notification area, a large number of residents have been noticeably upset at the <br />city's lack of attention to notifying the community.
