Goal 46: Respect our Environment <br />The community places high value on our natural resources, as stated in Imagine Roseville 2025. <br />Public Works staff recognizes this commitment and has identified resources needed to meet <br />community goals and regulation placed upon us by other agencies. Public Works is committed <br />to sustainable practices in project delivery and design to reduce the city's environmental impact. <br />Action Plan <br />Existing Resources <br />➢ Increase our effort in the areas of storm water management, environmental protection, and <br />reducing our carbon footprint with the added engineer position. <br />➢ Meet storm water regulation rules and goals in the areas of infiltration, total maximum daily <br />loading and wetland management. <br />➢ Continue to measure results of ice control program in our efforts to reduce salt/chemical use <br />reduction. <br />➢ Reduce the City's carbon footprint by understanding the City's impact and creating <br />achievable and reasonable goals for implementing an action plan. <br />➢ Implement Overhead Electric Undergrounding Policy <br />Additional Funding Needed <br />➢ Add water resources /environmental engineer to the engineering division to increase our <br />efforts in the area of storm water management. <br />➢ Explore ways to improve sustainability through purchases and practices, and apply <br />sustainable methods to areas, where appropriate. <br />Budget Program: <br />Estimated Cost <br />2015 <br />$60,000 <br />$30,000 <br />$50,000 <br />$140,000 <br />2016 <br />$60,000 <br />$30,000 <br />$50,000 <br />$140,000 <br />2017 <br />$60,000 <br />$30,000 <br />$50,000 <br />$140,000 <br />Sustainable vehicles and green products and technologies generally cost more and additional <br />funding is needed in these areas.
