TRANSPORTATION: The Ziansportation Unit would consist of a supervisor who would <br />coordinate private contrackors who would do transports far arrests, detox, shelter home <br />placements, etc. <br />An alternative to this would be to have an entire transportation unit which would coordinate <br />with the detention function. This would require two supervisors on each shift in addition to <br />twelve transport officers on each shift. <br />The following is a description oP units making up the second sertion_ <br />OPERATIDNS: The Operations Unit will cansist of two supenrisors and six addi,tional <br />employees. The Operations Unit wi,ll be responsible for transfening administration and <br />criminal information and materials from the main headquarters out to the individual teams. <br />The Operations Unit would also handle court notices and cancellations, as well as being the <br />contact point for sick leave and sick return. The Operations Unit would operate on the day <br />and afternoon shifts. <br />PRINT SHOP: The Print Shop will consist of three employees who will be responsible for the <br />printing of all forms used by the county police force. One of the three employees will be <br />designated the supervisor. <br />CRIME I.AB: Crime Lab functions would be best served if laboratory functions were <br />consolidated with the state lab. Other functions conceming crime scene processing, and <br />evidence gathering would be handled by a crime scene processing team which would be <br />made up of both sworn and civilian employees to perform this function. <br />If a county police crim� lab were undertaken it should consist of a unit comm&nder, <br />secretary, six latent examiner/crime scene specialists, Pour criminalists dedicated to quan- <br />titative and qualitative analysis of controlled substance, two additional criminalists dedi- <br />cated to arson evidence analysis, and one firearnas/ballistic expert. <br />PHOTO LAB: The Photo Lab would cansist of two employees, one o# which would be the <br />supervisor. The Photo Lab would be responsible for processing all film and printing all <br />photos for the county police force. <br />AUDIO VISUAL UNIT: The Audio Visual Unit will consist of two employees. one of which <br />would be the supervisor. The Audio Visual Unit would be responsible for upkeep and repair <br />of all audio visual equipmen#. It would also produce video tapes for the department. <br />POLICE ARTIST: The Police Artist will work in co�,juziction with the Audio Visual Unit and <br />would be supervised by the audio visual supervisor. The Police Artist would be responsible <br />for composite sketches and crime scene drawings. <br />The following is a description of the units making up the third section: <br />SYSTEMS: The Systems Unit would consist of a civilian unit head. a secretary, and six <br />additional employees. The Systems Unit wouid be responsfble for writing software pro- <br />grams and building hardware component systems for the county police force. <br />RESF•ARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: The Research and Development Unit will consist of a <br />unit head supervisor, and four additional employees.
