Manages the ice arena to a maximum potential and <br />generates a equate revenue to operate the facility. <br />Police Department <br />The Roseville Police Department is responsi�le for the protection of life <br />and property from criminal or o�her re7ated activities in the comrnunity, <br />Other respons�b�l3ties vital to the function of the Po1ice Department <br />include: the Tnvestigation of crimes and appr�hension of criminals, enforce- <br />ment of traffic laws and the maintenance of a juvenil� program. In order to <br />accomplish these goals the department is organized into thre� d�visions: <br />Administration, Patrol and Juveni7e/Investigation. <br />7he Patrol Division opera�es under what has been termed a"power shift" <br />schedule. Under this schedu7e th� number af officers assigned during a <br />specific ti�e o� day fluctuates based on the aniicipated activity ievels. <br />During the low incident hQUrs, a minimum of four officers (3 �atrol�en <br />plus 1 ser�eantj are scheduled with the number af hours gradually increas- <br />ing to a maximum of 8 offfcers �uring the peak activity period. <br />In addition to thes� services, the Po7ice Department caordinates the City's <br />Animal Control Program. Since 1975, the City has operated its own Animal <br />Control Program by hir�ng two community service officers. Genera1ly these <br />officers are college students in the area of law enforcement seeking Qrac- <br />tica7 experience. Each officer works approxima�ely 20 hours a week patrol7- <br />ing the City and responding to requests for services. The City has a con- <br />�ractual arrangement wjth the Brighton Veterinary Nospital for prov�sion of <br />pound services. Under the contract the City pays on a cost per animal bas�s <br />and receives all fees and penalties collected by �he pound. The City ard- <br />inance requires all dogs to be licensed at a cost of $7.00 and stipulates <br />a$10 fine for_ dogs running at large. <br />Chief of Police. �lans, develops and supervises a department of trained <br />aw entorcement o ficers to enforce the Zaws and ordinances for the pro- <br />tection of life and praperty for the preservation of law and order. <br />De ut Chief. Participates with the Ch.i:e� in administering and coar- <br />inat�ng activities of the Police Department. <br />Ser, eq ant. Directs and supervises patrolmen on each shift. <br />Detectzves.
