�� <br />TITL� <br />CITY PQLZCY <br />Parking in the Boulevard <br />4/23/82 <br />Background Statement: The current City Code prohibits any parking from <br />occurring in the boulevard areas along streets in the City. Investigation <br />has detexmined, however, that a Zarge number of instances exisfi where <br />parking facilities have been constructed zn fihe boulevard and/or parking <br />is occurring regular2y zn the boulevard ar�as. It appears that in the <br />predominance of cases, the parking could have been placed at a location on <br />the pxivate property which would have conformed wzth the Code regulations. <br />Due to the fact that such work was not done thxough permit approval or <br />knowledge by the City, it is vexy difficult to estabiish when the alteration <br />to the boulevard occurred, when the parking �egan, or wh� did the alteration. <br />Polzcy Statement: The boulevard area in the xight-of-way was never established <br />for, nor intended to be used, as a parking area. The City Code has always <br />specified parking requirements for the development of property so that <br />adeauate off-street parking would be incorparated into the individual <br />parcels as they developed. Individuals who have mistaken�y created parking <br />in these boulevard areas should be notified of the problem, and corxect it <br />within a reasonable time frame. <br />Procedure Statement: In oxder to bring the existing situation of parking <br />occurring in the boulevard areas back into compliance with the Code, the <br />foilowing procedure is to be utilized: <br />1} The City sta�f shall do an investigation as soon as possible to <br />establish an official listing of all existing baulevard parking <br />areas. This should minimize future disputes concerning those <br />conditions that exist at the time thzs policy is adopted in <br />comparison to work that somehow would occur after the date such <br />a list was prepared. <br />2) Bring any unusually hazardous driveways into conformance within <br />60 days. <br />� <br />3) Contact the owners of the property adjacent to tiahere the parking <br />is occurring an� inform them that this situation must be corrected <br />before June 30, I984, The exception to this would be that if a <br />street improvement should occur prior to the June 30, 1984, dead- <br />line, that the parking would be corrected in conjunction with that <br />improvement. <br />{1uth�� Sectzon 87.0�45 of the City Code. <br />
