The U.S. Census gives the Roseville population as: <br />1950 6,437 residents <br />1960 23,997 residents <br />1970 34,439 residents <br />1980 35,82D residents <br />199� 33,485 residents <br />Major shopping centers opened as follows: <br />1950 �exington Plaza <br />1963 Har Mar Mall <br />1969 Rosedale Mal! <br />The U.S. Census data reveals that during the 1950's Roseville's populaiion increased <br />dramatically, almost four-fold; and in the 60's two major shoppin� centers became a <br />part of the City. The face of Roseville had changed from a farming area to an <br />interactive community. Homes, parks, and commercial buildings appeared aiong <br />pipeEine routes and nearby pipefine terminals. <br />For the most part, Roseville has grown around the pipelines and terminals in our <br />community. They are a necessary adjunct to support our lifestyle and national security. <br />Altho«�h pi�elines and terminals pose a risk to the public and environment, they are <br />inherently safer than transportation by tank trucks and railroad cars. Statistics indicate <br />that the major cause of accidental product refeases #rom pipeiines is third party 'hits' <br />during exca�ation. <br />Pipelines and pipeline terminals are wel[ regulated by federal, state, and tocal <br />agencies.
