A. Storage ianks
♦ There are 12 active tanks used to store light petroleum prodcts,
petroleum distillate and aircraft fei. 4ther small tanks are used for
pipeline breakout {pop-off} and gasoiine additives. The large tarks were
constructed in 946 and are considered to have an indefinite iife when
maintained correctly. The tanks range in size from 966,000 galions to
3,570,00 gallons. In normal operation, all ihe tanks average about 6Q%
of capacity.
♦ Amoco has never had a tank farm fre. The only incident was a water well
pump fiire in a smali metal building. They have had some ground water
contamination from tank spills. Ground wafer is cuRently being monitored
by 40 ground water wefls. Clean up is continuous.
♦ Alf of the 12 large tanks were cleaned, inspected and tested in the last six
years. A daie has not been sef for future testing.
♦ in 1992 and i 993 all the piping within the termina! area was replaced and
installed above ground so ihat leaks and spills are observed easiiy.
None of the 12 farge #anks are protected by a built-in fire suppression
system. All tanks are surrounded by dikes which were surveyed in 1988
and found tQ meet requird codes.
♦ There are about 1fi0 to 200 valves in the system, and each valve is
checked monthly to assure it can be operated easily.
♦ The tank and manifold areas are checked visually each day.
♦ The termina! has a water system for fire control. Hydrants are
strategically located. This water system is below grade and is tied in#o
tfe Rosevil[e fre water system.
♦ Tank bottoms have been protec#ed cathodically since the 1960's or
1970's. Cathodic protection was upgraded in 9 990 and is monitored
regularly by a cosultant.
♦ Te small additive tanks were built in 1992.
B_ Loadng Areas for Trucks
♦ Most of the product stored at this terminal is shipped out in tank trucks. In
1993, Amoco Oil Company built a new tank truck loading facility and
3-3
