Evidence of amphibians and reptiles
Amphibians use water bodies for breedin, maturation, and over wintering_ These
organisms are extremely dependent on ood water quality and their populations can be
severely affected by toxins. Regtiles such as turtles rely on both a qality wetland for
food foraging and hibernation and upland areas for laying eggs. Snakes will often bc
found in areas adjacent to wetlands that support arnphibian life forms.
High: Number of individuals (3 or more)
Medium: (1-2)
Low: (0-1)
Evidence af Birds
Many types of irds can be found within and adjacent to wetlands. The reason for this is
because of the abundance of food available and the nesting cover provided by wetland
plants. A good diversity of bird species is supported by a diverse array of food and cover
found and provides for better recreational bird watchin opportunities.
High: Nurnber of species (3 or more).
Medium: (2-3}
Low: (0-1)
Evidence of non-domestic rrzammals
Mamrnals, especially larger ones, need ample adjacent upland areas to search for food
and raise their young. Aquatic systerns that do not have naanmalian life forms using
them may have little to offer for food or covcr or they rnay be isolated from other
supportive systems.
Hi.gh: Number of species (3 or more).
Medium: ('-3)
Low: (0-1)
Ciry of Roseville 154
Pcrks NaturaI Resorrce Nlaiaagen:erat
