The <br />Commission shall have the sole discretion to determine the weights to be given to each <br />por�ion of an examination so long as such weights are uniformly applied to all applicants. <br />All applicants for a pasition will undergo the same testing procedure. <br />Examinations may be conducted by or at the direciion of the Commission, and at such <br />times and at such frequcncy as deemed appropriate by the Cornmission. <br />Examinations may be canceled by the Commission upon reasonable notice, in writing, to <br />each applicant. Such notice shall also be given to the City Manager setting forth the reasons <br />for such cancellation. <br />Eli 'b� le Register <br />• The narnes of those eligible upon examination, shall be entered with their � <br />rankin s�on an entry Ievei eligible register or pramotion register, whichever the case may <br />be. <br />On the entry level eligible register, new candidates can be added and co-mingled according <br />to total weighted scores, provided the examination process for the new candidates was <br />similar to the process used for the e�sting candidates. Their new ranking shall be effective <br />as of the date the last new candidate(s) are placed on the eligible register who takes a <br />subsequent examination for the same position, shall be ranked according to his score on <br />the subsequeni examination. The eligibility of a candidate for appointment shall continue <br />for a period of �a ane year� frozn the certification date and shall then automatically <br />terminate and k�is/ her name shall be stricken from the eligible register. <br />AIl applicants shall be notified in writing of the results of the examinations and of the <br />applicant's relative standing on the appropriate registers. <br />The name of an applicant may be stricken from the eligible register for any of the reasons <br />set forth in Minn. Stat. 419.Ob(6). <br />Fillin Vacancies <br />• Vacancies shall first be filled by recalling officers laid aff or reduced in rank fram the <br />position to be filled. A laid off officer shall have t�vo weeks from receipt of written notice of <br />recaIl in which to report. <br />• Whenever a vacancy occurs which. cannot be filled by recalling an eligible officer from <br />layoff, the City Manager shall ask make a requisition to the Commission to certify for the <br />cert�fication of the three names standing highest on the appropriate register to fill the <br />vacancy. The Commission shall do so farihwith certify to the City Manager the three names <br />standing highest on the appropriate register. The City Manager shall then fill the vacancy <br />by choosing one of the persons so certified, or shall request a secand list. <br />Probationarv Period <br />
