• Original appointments shall be followed by a probationary period of twelve months <br />commencing on the date of hire. During such probationary period the City Manager, after <br />setting forth his or her reasons in writing to the Commission, may terminate the <br />probationary police officer ' . <br />o Promotions shall be followed by a probationary period of twelve months commencing upon <br />assumption of the new rank. The officer shall thereafter be reinstated to his or her <br />former position. <br />When a Deputy Chief who has been appointed to that position from another position on the <br />Roseville Police Department �er-n�r�es resigns the position of Deputy Chief, he or she may <br />be reinstated to �� his her former position on the Roseville Police Department, by the <br />City Manager, in the City Manager's sole discretion. Upon reinstatem�nt, the former <br />Deputy Chief shall receive seniority equal to the seniority he or she had at the time of <br />promotian to Deputy Chief, with no fnrther seniority accruing during the tenure as Deputy <br />Chief. <br />Transfers <br />A lateral movement within the department from one position to anoiher position in the same <br />classification shall be deemed a transfer. Transfers may be made by the Chief of Police. <br />Temporarv Appointments <br />'1`emporazy appointments without examination may be made by the Chief of Police ��e <br />,.c�t�,, n..�;..,. r:_.:t c,.�,;,.,. r..�....:,,,,:..�. No such temporary appointment shall <br />continue for more that � ninetv days nor shall successive temporary appointments bc <br />permitted for the same position without the approval of the Commission. <br />Resi ations <br />Resignations shall be accomplished by giving the City Manager at least two weeks written <br />notice of such resignation with a cogy of such notice to the Commission and the Chief of Police. <br />In the event such notice is not given, the failure to give such notice may be considered sufficient <br />grounds for rejecting subsequeni applications from the officer. <br />Leaves of Absence <br />Officers shall be subject to the City of Roseville's Ordinance regulating leaves of absence. <br />La�a,�ffs <br />
