MINUTES
ROSEVILLE POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
March 9, 1999
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
Members Present
Members Absent:
Others Present:
NEW BUSINESS
Jack Weidenbach and Bob King
Joe Olson
Police Chief Paul Wood and Deputy Chief Tom Alleva
1. Minutes
Minutes from the held on Ociober 14, 1998 were clistributed for approvat. Motion:
King moved that the minu#es be approved, Weidenfoach seconded and motion was
passed unanimously.
2. Review of Promotion Process for Sergeart
Chie€ Paul Wood reviewed the Sergeant promotion process and presented the
atached list to be cerified. King moved to accept and certify the list, Weidenbach
seconded and motion passed unanimously.
3. Educational Re uirements for Ser eant's Job Descri tion
The commissioners had a discussion of the educational requirements for the
sergeant's job description. Deputy Chief Alteva reported that a review of national
documentation through the National Institute of Justice and the Internet did not
provide much information on educational requirements for promotion to sergeant.
Commissioner King will be checking with Post to see if Post is going to require an
AA degree for reciprocity applicants; if so, that would bring them in line with the
minimum requirements tor Minnesota officers of an AA degree, which then would
make ihat requirement easier to apply to sergeants for promotion.
ADJOURNMENT
King moved to adjoum the meeting at 6:05 p.m., Weidenbach secorded, mo#ion
passed unanimously.
Respectfully submitted
Bob King, Acting Secretary
