f �-�-� �-. <br />ROSEVILLE CIVlL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 14, 1998 <br />The meeting was called to order at S:OOpm. <br />Members Present: Jack Weidenbach, Joe Olson, and Bob King <br />Members Absent: None <br />Others Present: Paul Wood, Police Chief; Tom Alleva, Deputy Police Chief; <br />Karen Kurt, Human Resources Director; Carolyn Ganz, <br />Administrative Analyst; and Jerry Reuttiman, Community <br />Rela#ions Coordinator. <br />New Business <br />Minutes from the meeting held on September 4, 1998 were distribu#ed for <br />a�proval. <br />Motion: Olson moved that the minutes be approved. Weidenbach seconded. <br />Motion passed unanimously {King �ot present for vote). <br />Chief Wood reviewed the final six candidates being presented for certifica#ion. <br />Ganz noted that no candicfates were merged from previous fists. <br />Motion: Oison moved to approve the eligibility list as presented. Weidenbach <br />seconded. Motion passed unanimously {King not present to vote). <br />Chief Wood noted that motion passed at last meeting did not address issue fo� <br />the officer that does not qualify to test for sergeant exam under the new job <br />description. <br />Olson recommended tha# educational requirements for all of the positions be <br />reviewed at the February meeting and asked city staff to prepare and mail their <br />recommendations in advance of the meeting. <br />Ruettiman noted that POST Board is likely to require that all licensed officers <br />have an AA degree in the near future even, under reciproci#y rules. <br />l�ing recornmended that the test be opened to the officer hired prior to the AA <br />requirement, but that no change to #he job description be made until the <br />Commission had an opportunity to thoroughly review the education requirements <br />for all positions <br />
