ROSEVILLE CIV1L SERVICE COMMISSIQN Meeting Minutes September 4, 7998 Th� mee#ing was called to order at 5:15pm. Members Present: Bob King and Joe Olson {phone) Members Absent: Jack Weidenbach Others Present: Paul Wood, Police Chief; Tom Alleva, Deputy Palice Chief; Karen Kurt, Human Resources Director; and Carolyn Ganz, Administrative Anaiyst. New Business Minutes from the meeting held on Aug�st 5, 1998 were distributed for approval. Motion: King moved that the minutes be approved. Olson seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Carolyn Ganz reviewed the results of the written and physica! tests for Police Officer. Motion: Olson moved to forward candidates with the top 45 scores to the next st�p of the process. Weidenbach seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Wood reviewed a proposed language change to the job description of Police Sergeant. The ianguage change would efimi�ate the AA degree requiremenfi for officers with ten years af experience with the City of Roseville. The change would enable officers who joined the force prior to the req�irement of an AA degree for licensure to test for the sergeant position. The Chief noted that a similar decision was made with regard to the lieutenant position to enable sergeants witho�t an AA degree to test. Qlson proposed an alternative language cF�ange that would clarify ihat the exception would only be made for Roseville officers hired prior to the AA requirement. King recommended #hat the test be opened to the officers hired prior to the AA requirement, but that no change to the job description be made until the Commission had an opportunity to thoroughly review the educatian requ�rements for all positions.
